What is Nika Bowl?

Nika Bowl is the mixing bowl of the NIKA range: a semi-transparent body in a light shade, made of non-metallic material, with a flared base, a flat grip formed into the rim and the NIKA logo on the front. It is the bowl for preparing colour, tone on tone and lightening at the technical bench. The semi-transparent wall lets the level and the consistency of the mix be read from the outside, without leaning over the bowl at every check.

Who it is for

  • Colourists running more than one preparation at a time, who want to see at a glance how much product is left in each bowl.
  • Anyone judging the shade of the mix while preparing it: on a light background the colour reads without the contrast of a dark bowl.
  • Technical benches where bowls are washed and put back into service several times in the same day.
  • Anyone who prefers a compact body with a grip on the rim, which takes up less room on the bench than a protruding handle.

Key features

  • Semi-transparent body in a light shade: the level and the consistency of the mix stay visible from the outside, against the light.
  • Non-metallic material: consistent with colouring and lightening protocols, which exclude contact with metal.
  • Flat grip on the rim: something to hold with the thumb while mixing, without the bulk of a handle.
  • Flared base: stable footing on the technical bench.
  • NIKA logo on the front: consistent with the rest of the NIKA bench tools.

Results

A mix prepared to the right consistency because it can be seen while it is being worked, and not only when the brush goes in. Against the light the remaining lumps show up before application, and at the end of the service it is immediately clear whether the wash was complete. On multiple preparations, the light wall saves lifting every bowl to check how much product is left.

How to use

  1. Check that the bowl is clean and dry: residue from an earlier preparation alters the result of the new one.
  2. Pour in the colour, then the developer or the activator in the ratio set by the protocol of the product in use. The bowl does not change the mixing ratios.
  3. Mix with Nika Mixer, using circular movements, until the mix is even and free of lumps.
  4. Check the level and the consistency through the wall, against the light, before applying.
  5. Take the product up with Nika Application Brush and apply following the protocol of the product.
  6. Wash immediately after use, before the mix starts to dry.

Tips and routine

It does not work on its own: the mix is stirred with Nika Mixer and taken up with Nika Application Brush, the two tools built for its diameter. Together with Nika Bowl Black it covers the most frequent case at the technical bench, two preparations side by side with no decanting: the black one for the main preparation, this one for the second formula or the corrector. The mixing ratios remain those of the product protocol, whether that is Oxidizer or Nika Activator: the bowl does not change them. On a light surface the most intense pigments can leave a film if washing is put off, so the rule is to rinse straight away.

FAQ

Why a non-metallic bowl?

Because colouring and lightening protocols exclude contact with metal during mixing. That is why plastic bowls are the ones used at the technical bench.

How does it differ from Nika Bowl Black?

Colour, capacity and grip. This one is light and semi-transparent, with a flat grip on the rim. The black one is dark and opaque, with a handle, and holds a different volume. Many technical benches keep both precisely to tell them apart at a glance when two formulas are running together.

Does it stain with intense pigments?

On a light surface a film is possible if the mix dries inside the bowl. Washing it straight after use prevents this, and any film that does form does not alter the result of later preparations.

Material and care

Wash immediately after use with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, working the rim and the base, where product tends to sit. Dry it before putting it back into service: water left inside dilutes the next preparation. Do not leave it on hot surfaces, and do not use it as a container for anything other than colour, tone on tone and lightening. How long does it last and what does it cost per use?

These are concentrated professional formulas: the correct dose is almost always smaller than the one used out of habit.

Where available, the product page shows the dose per application and the number of uses per pack. From there you get the real cost per wash or per service, which matters more than the price of the bottle.

If the figure is missing or your case is unusual, ask clichAIr.

How can I pay?

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Twint, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay.
