Dive into the depths of a magnetic, sophisticated blue with Gems 88 Blue, an intense shade that echoes the mysterious hues of the midnight ocean.
Use and safety note
Direct pigment product: it deposits colour and does not lighten, so the final result always depends on your starting colour.
Carry out a strand test and a sensitivity test 48 hours before application. If you are unsure about your starting level, consult clichAIr or a professional before use.
What is Gems 88 Blue
Gems 88 Blue is a semi-permanent toning mask from the CODE ZERO Gems Collection. Its ammonia-free, ready-to-use formula deposits direct pigments for a deep, velvet-like blue with a bold, luminous reflection, nourishing and protecting the hair as it colours. No oxidiser is required and the colour fades gradually over several washes.
Who it is for
Ideal for anyone who wants a striking, modern look in a deep, saturated blue. The intensity depends entirely on the starting level: on pre-lightened hair from level 8 upwards the result is a full, vivid blue, while on medium bases it reads as a cool reflection that catches the light rather than a solid colour. On naturally dark hair the deposit stays subtle. Formulated for professional salon use. At-home application is possible when your starting level matches the result you expect.
Key ingredients
-
Basic Blue 124: the key pigment that gives the intense blue tone and its depth on lightened hair.
-
Blue Lotus Extract (Nymphaea Coerulea): hydrates and protects the hair fibre.
-
Baobab Oil (Adansonia Digitata): deeply nourishes, improving softness and resilience.

Results
A deep, velvet-like blue with a bold, luminous reflection on pre-lightened hair, and a cool blue shimmer that catches the light on darker bases.
How to use
- Wash with a gentle shampoo and towel-dry to remove excess water. Do not apply conditioner or masks before colouring, so the pigment adheres perfectly.
- Check your starting level: from level 8 upwards you get a full, vivid blue, while on medium bases you should expect a cool reflection rather than a solid colour.
- Apply evenly to lengths and ends, distributing with a comb for a homogeneous result. Always wear gloves: blue pigments stain skin and surfaces.
- For a soft reflection leave on 5-10 minutes; for a bold, deep blue extend to 15-20 minutes.
- Add a small amount of lukewarm water and gently massage to emulsify, then rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo immediately after is not necessary, to preserve maximum colour vibrancy.

FAQ
Do I need an oxidiser? No. It is ready to use and works without ammonia or developer.
Will it work on dark hair? It deposits on dark hair, but not as a visible blue. Expect a cool reflection that catches the light. A full, saturated blue requires a pre-lightened base at level 8 or above.
What happens if my base is still yellow? Blue pigment deposited over residual yellow warmth reads as green. If your base has been lightened but still pulls yellow, neutralise it before applying, and always run a strand test first.
How long does it last? It fades gradually over several washes. On very porous or heavily lightened hair, blue pigments can hold longer than expected and leave a residual cool tone.
How do I get a pastel blue? Mix Gems 88 Blue with Gems C Clear to reduce the intensity.
